Tune into this webinar to investigate the efficacy of lifestyle modifications (exercise and dietary factors) on co-morbidities associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD). CKD is a progressive disorder associated with severe metabolic disturbances that greatly increase the risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD), osteoporosis, muscle wasting, and other disorders. This webinar will provide novel information regarding the effects of lifestyle interventions on clinical outcomes and quality of life (QOL) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Learning Objectives:

1. Critically evaluate the scientific rationale regarding dietary sodium, phosphorus, potassium, and fluid restrictions in    hemodialysis patients, and why these restrictions may or may not be necessary under different circumstances.

2. Better communicate with dialysis patients and hemodialysis clinic staff members the nuances of these dietary    restrictions.

3. Promote efficacious physical activity programs for hemodialysis patients.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
