Laura Lengnick, author of Resilient Agriculture: Cultivating Food Systems for a Changing Climate, will share how some of America’s best growers, farmers and ranchers are using targeted and general resilience strategies to reduce climate risk to their operations. She will share highlights from a decade-long national climate change adaptation case study, including strategies that help stabilize profits despite more variable weather and more frequent and intense weather extremes. Examples include planned grazing of beef cattle in New Mexico, on-farm processing of organic fruits in Michigan, dynamic crop rotation on no-till grain and bean operation in Idaho, a Master Line farm water management system on a diversified vegetable farm in Missouri, and pasture-cropping on a dairy farm in South Carolina.
