Extension Professionals are invited to participate in a virtual chat focused on empowering youth through place-based community development with the year 4 NTAE project team from West Virginia.

In this chat, explore effective ways to engage youth in Extension-led community development efforts, as they are crucial to long-term rural economic growth. The My Hometown is Cool initiative adopts a multidisciplinary approach to youth engagement by integrating community development and entrepreneurial thinking. It employs an asset-based community development strategy to empower young people as change agents in their home communities. The Virginia State team will pose questions for engaging discussion and an idea-sharing on effective engagement of youth in community development efforts.

This virtual chat is open to all and no registration is required. To join the chat, click on the link either in this message or above, at the start time of the chat, May 9th at 2:00 PM Eastern Time.
