Our Neighbor...

Our neighbor goes for a walk every morning. He waves enthusiastically to everyone he sees. His smile goes from ear to ear. He carries a big bag of treats for all the dogs he meets. He doesn't even own a dog.

Our neighbor knows attitude is everything. He always picks a good one.

Our neighbor goes to the local grocery store every Saturday morning. He knows all the bakery employees. He buys donuts for all the kids who are shopping with their parents. Every one...without exception.

Our neighbor knows all too well that tomorrow is not promised. His wife passed away last year. While caring for her he still found time to give to others.

Our neighbor knows the power of effort. He shows that effort given to others rewards everyone involved.

Our neighbors attitude & effort come back to him. His neighbors in turn give of themselves. They help with chores, yard work, etc.

Our neighbor has taught countless people lessons in leadership. Through him others have learned that real leaders serve others. Through him others have learned that our behaviors matter.

Our neighbor knows that attitude & effort reflect leadership. They do so through authenticity & consistency.

Our neighbor has influence. He is using his to lead.

Be a good neighbor.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
