Local Response to a Foreign Animal Disease

Dr. Victoria Bowes, Avian Pathologist with the British Columbia Ministry of Agriculture, will present an overview of lessons learned during the pathogenic Avian Influenza outbreak in British Columbia in 2004 and how animal disease outbreak emergency response has changed because of it.

She will discuss challenges and successes in quickly identifying, containing and eliminating a highly-contagious foreign animal disease while communicating effectively with producers, public officials, citizens and international neighbors.

Dr. Susan Kerr, team leader for the Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN) Agrosecurity community of practice, will moderate.

This free webinar is open to agricultural stakeholders, agriculture agencies and Extension educators and specialists.
