ITChatter: Mobile Device Security

Penn State's Ag IT team hosts lunch conversations about different technologies and their uses, called the ITChatter series. This month's session will be looking at Mobile Device Security. Are our smartphones too 'smart'? Vince Verbeke, Support Specialist with the college will share what he knows about protecting you and your device.

Smartphones store your personal data and sensitive information. In this ITChatter session we will explore what vulnerabilities and risks are associated with these devices. We'll also look at twelve ways to help protect your smartphone.

Participants are asked to arrive in the Adobe Connect meeting room (http://meeting.psu.edu/ITChatter) at noon. The chatter gets started at 12:15 and will wrap up by 12:50. You can join us each month or participate in just the ITChatters that interest you.

Participants can login as a guest.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.

This technology is supported in part by New Technologies for Ag Extension (funding opportunity no.
