An Introduction to One Health and High-Containment Research

The Biosecurity Research Institute at Kansas State University in partnership with One Health Kansas presents the first in a series of learning events.  This introductory session is designed to increase awareness and the understanding of biosafety, biosecurity, biocontainment and the importance of infectious disease research facilities.

During this session, Dr. Jodi Freifeld, DVM, MBA, DACVPM will introduce you to the concept of One Health.  We will explore the complex interconnections between human, animal, and environmental health. These connections have a major impact on today’s global society; a society that is preparing for the possibility of rapid introductions of emerging and exotic diseases.  This session will provide a framework for topics covered in this lecture series and the need for high-consequence disease research and research facilities.
