Urban Extension Professional Development Guide Reissued as Flipping Book

An Urban Extension Professional Development guide has been reissued as a flipping book by the Extension Foundation. Initially developed as an offering for the 2019 Impact Collaborative, the publication is jam-packed with information and resources curated and reviewed by a national team of experts. Note: Registration for the next Impact Collaborative - which will be held October 4-6th, 2022 -  is now open. Information about the all-virtual event can be found here.

The publication’s editors are Jody Norman and Cynthia Pierfax, who completed this work in their roles as the 2019 National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL) Fellows.

The publication tells the story of Urban Extension: what it is, how it works, and what it is becoming. It contains information about the characteristics of Urban Extension and lays out its differences and similarities to Rural Extension. In addition, it includes eight comprehensive case studies, a robust resource section, and links to a variety of helpful websites.

The Extension Foundation has recently released several new titles on topics including a Northeast ecosystems services assessment, DEI, Oklahoma State’s master irrigator program, creating mass media campaigns, game-based education, wellness in “tough times,” innovating curriculum, prescribed fire, emergency preparation and response, understanding food labels, and building farm and farm family resilience. A note about our Publications:

After listening to the feedback of our Cooperative Extension partners, the new Publication bookshelf serves as a replacement for our old eFieldbook library. We greatly value and appreciate the feedback we received, including eliminating a LinkedIn login to access titles on the bookshelf. All titles are publicly available on our Connect Extension platform. Titles that were on our former eFieldbook bookshelf are in the process of being migrated.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members.
