South Dakota Student Water Conference and Eastern South Dakota Water Conference

Two exciting conferences should be on your calendar -  the Second Annual South Dakota Student Water Conference on October 11, 2022 and the Eastern South Dakota Water Conference on October 12, 2022. 

The South Dakota Student Water Conference will be October 11 in Brookings, South Dakota on the campus of South Dakota State University.   The conference features several growth and professional development opportunities in addition to the opportunity for students to present their research related to water.  If you have colleagues at other universities, please share with them, since students can receive travel scholarships of up to $500 to cover costs of travel to SDSU. Non-students are also encouraged to attend for the opportunity to learn about local and regional water research, network with potential graduate students, other researchers from across the region, industry professionals, and be included in the career meet and greet.

The deadline for submitting abstracts for the student water conference is September 2 and will not be extended.  The abstract submission portal also includes the travel scholarship application and can be accessed from the conference landing page (https://www.sdstate.edu/agricu...dakota-student-water).  Attendance is free but you must register to attend.

Our featured Alan R. Bender Memorial Lecture in Water and Climate Resilience this year is Dr. Garey Fox, (Editor in Chief of the Journals of ASABE; Department Head at North Carolina State University; Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer; and Fellow of the American Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers). Dr. Fox has a long history of high impact research (over 120 peer-reviewed publications) and working with students (Oklahoma Excellence in Education Award from the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence). The lecture will take place in the evening of October 11 in the SD Corn Gallery of the Raven Precision Ag Center.

Students do NOT want to miss this opportunity to present their research, network with peers and professionals from across the region, and experience water research occurring in multiple disciplines.

The Eastern South Dakota Water Conference will be October 12 at McCrory Gardens in Brookings, SD.  Our theme this year is "Phosphorus Loss: Local & Global Challenges". We have five exciting, featured speakers that will cover phosphorus from the soil scale to the global scale.  Abstract submission is still open and will remain open until September 2.  Registration and abstract submission can be found at the conference landing page (https://www.sdstate.edu/agricu...south-dakota-water-0).
