Looking for additional opportunities to engage with your colleagues? Join us on Wednesday, April 19 for NECI’s Membership Engagement Meeting!
This one-hour meeting is held the third Wednesday of each month and is intended to serve as a safe space to share ideas, obstacles, and solutions to advance climate change outreach in Extension through casual, facilitated discussion. We will also use this space to share updates and discuss progress on our Extension Climate Change Action Items and work from the Working Groups (Extension Policy, Professional Development, Curriculum, etc.). These meetings will NOT be recorded and will begin with a reflection on the last Professional Development meeting and member ideas for how to incorporate content into our Extension programming, followed by member sharing of ideas, obstacles, and solutions to advance climate change outreach in Extension.

Join us Wednesday, May 3rd at 3:00 PM (ET) for NECI’s Professional Development Meeting’s presentation “Coordinated Climate Resilience Extension in Minnesota” with Heidi Roop, Director, Minnesota Climate Adaptation Program. The University of Minnesota Climate Adaptation Partnership is developing a coordinated Climate Resilience Extension Program focused on weather and climate-related preparedness and resilience to help communities, businesses, farmers, and others adapt to a changing climate. The program is organized to include 1) a central climate and adaptation science hub providing standardized access to climate data and adaptation resources as well as support for identifying and securing funding for implementation, and 2) geographically-distributed climate Extension educators who provide place-based knowledge and expertise to support the integration of climate information into different types of planning processes and decision making across a range of geographies and climate impacts. This model allows for the sustained feedback and iterative development of new climate data, adaptation best practices, and implementation priorities between a central hub, a network of climate resilience Extension educators, and diverse stakeholders. Through the implementation of the Climate Resilience Extension Program, we aim to create a transferable model for other states, leveraging the power of Extension to serve as a critical partner in the provision of sustained, trusted, and responsive climate services.
