ICYMI: National Action Dialogue, Community Based Development in the Digital Networked COVID-19 Age

Yesterday, 300 Cooperative Extension professionals came together for a National Action Dialogue put together by the eXtension Foundation and the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP). The dialogue, facilitated by @Molly Immendorf, featured three panelists:

@Chuck Hibberd, Dean & Director of Nebraska Extension

@Paul HillExtension Associate Professor, County Director, Community Economic Development, Utah State University

Doug Edlund, Assistant Director of Operations, UTIA Communications, & ACE President

The purpose of this event was to capture collective wisdom, inspire innovative thinking, and focus on new opportunities, partnerships, solutions, tangible actions and collaborations that will exist long beyond this public health crisis.

After the panelists had an opportunity to dialogue about Community Based Development in this digital networked COVID-19 age, participants were shifted to breakout rooms to work together on some general guiding questions:

  1. What challenges or barriers might come our way and how should we meet those challenges?

  2. What do we need to do to create change on this issue?
  3. What needs our immediate attention going forward?

After the breakout sessions, the large group reconvened to share what their groups came up with.

The second part of this session will occur on April 1st. You can find more details and the registration link here. In this part, we will work together to co-create actionable next step plans for each issue identified.

As a result of this first session, we have created a public group here in Connect Extension where resources from that first session are being shared. You can find that group here

Additionally, a recording from Part I on March 26th can be found here
