EXCITE Teams Receive Special CDC Recognition Letter at First In-Person Gathering

For the first time, the EXCITE program team convened in person this week, bringing together partners from USDA-NIFA, the CDC, and the Extension Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana. This landmark gathering allowed team members to celebrate past achievements, assess progress, and set strategic goals for the future.

During the event, CDC partners Julie Zajac and Alexi Piasecki shared a special letter from Dr. Georgia Peacock, Director of the Immunization Services Division, commending the EXCITE team’s efforts. The letter praised their dedication to reaching underserved audiences with critical immunization educationβ€”spanning the COVID-19 pandemic response, H5N1 outbreak, and the integration of immunization awareness into ongoing Extension programs for lasting impact. The CDC recognizes the unique position of Extension as trusted messengers with the capacity to reach diverse communities nationwide.

β€œI know how hard field agents work and how deeply you care about the communities you serve. Your efforts through the EXCITE program to promote vaccination are saving lives. Thank you for your partnership,”
