Discover the Potential of Agritourism: Free Webinar Hosted by UConn Extension

UConn Extension is excited to announce an upcoming agritourism webinar, offering farmers and agricultural business owners a unique opportunity to explore the possibilities of integrating tourism into their agricultural operations. This free, virtual event will take place on Thursday, January 30 from 2-4 PM, and will feature practical insights from seasoned experts and farmers who have successfully diversified their businesses through agritourism.

Agritourism is a growing business segment that combines agriculture with tourism, allowing farms to create additional revenue streams, engage with the public, and promote local food systems. Participants will gain valuable knowledge about essential topics, including insurance considerations, business planning, and how to craft an engaging agritourism experience that fosters meaningful connections with visitors.

The webinar will feature:

  • Expert Speakers: Gain insights from industry professionals with extensive experience in agritourism.
  • Real-World Perspectives: Learn directly from farmers who have embraced agritourism to grow their businesses.
  • Actionable Strategies: Explore practical steps to plan and implement a successful agritourism program.

The webinar speakers are:

  • Jamie Jones, Jones Family Farms
  • Jim Lyman, American National Insurance
  • Neviana Zhgaba, Aquila’s Nest Vineyards
  • Murray Gates, Connecticut Small Business Development Center
  • Moderators: Shuresh Ghimire and Evan Lentz, UConn Extension

“This webinar is designed to empower farmers and business owners with the tools they need to harness the benefits of agritourism,” says Shuresh Ghimire, associate extension educator for vegetable crops. “Whether you’re just starting out or looking to expand an existing operation, the strategies shared in this event will help participants turn their vision into a sustainable and profitable reality.”
