4-H Multi-state Urban Research

4-H Multi-state Urban Research

4-H provides an “Opportunity for All” to design a positive path toward their future. One of the main goals of 4-H is to teach life skills to youth that will have a lasting impact on their development into adulthood. In urban communities, programs may not include some structures commonly found in “traditional” 4-H. The NAE4-HYDP Urban Programming Working Group conducted a study to measure the life skill attainment of participants. This multi-state research project is being conducted to measure the impact of 4-H programming on youth in urban communities in 6 states (Maine, Georgia Kentucky, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia).

We are looking at the life skill attainment of youth participants and measuring adult perceptions of urban 4-H programs. I hope that you will be able to help with this project by sharing the link and invitation below as well as utilizing the information below. Please also take the adult survey and feel free to also survey your adult volunteers, teachers, and club leaders. Urban area is defined as the following: To qualify as an urban area, the territory identified according to criteria must encompass at least 2,000 housing units or have a population of at least 5,000. Thank you in advance for assisting me with this project. Please complete all surveys by October 1, 2024.

(To share, please copy and paste the information below the dashes into an email to your urban program youth.)

Hello -

The NAE4-HYDP Urban Programming Working Group invites you to participate in a survey to help the program leaders learn more about your experience in 4-H programs. This information will also help us better plan and prepare activities for the future.

You do not have to be in this study if you do not want to. During the survey, you may decide to stop at any time, and there will be no issue with your current program or the University of Maryland.

This survey concerns what you have learned and how you feel about 4-H. It will take you only a couple of minutes. We are interested in learning more about what you get from your time in our program.

BY COMPLETING THE SURVEY, YOU DECIDED TO PARTICIPATE AND HAVE REVIEWED THESE INSTRUCTIONS. You can click the link below to continue.
