You are invited to join your regional urban colleagues at the 2025 North-Central NUEL Regional Conference. The conference will be held May 27-29, 2025, at Kirkwood Linn County Regional Conference Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Cedar Rapids is Iowa’s second largest city, is home to more than 100 miles of county biking & hiking trails and contains nearly 100 public parks. Quaker Oats in downtown Cedar Rapids is the largest milling facility in the world!
As a nod to the Community Development acumen, we believe all Extension Professionals should have, we want our breakout sessions to introduce an issue/idea/concept and then work on it - collaboratively. This format will allow for a more participatory experience for attendees and provide an opportunity for collaborative sharing and learning.
Facilitated Discussion Sessions will be 75-minutes in length. Facilitators are encouraged to name co-facilitators and/or scribes to document the work of the group during their sessions. The following are questions or themes that we would like discussion sessions to address.
- How is program development and delivery in an urban setting different?
- How do we as Urban Extensionists effectively frame the value of urban programming?
- How do we engage our own organization, partnering organizations, and people in transformational change within an urban programming context?
- What specific resources do we need to expand urban programming?
- What skills do Extension personnel need to possess to effectively develop and deliver urban programs?
If you’re ready to submit your proposal for a Facilitated Discussion or an Ignite Presentation, visit this link by the application deadline of February 11, 2025. We’ll notify you by February 28, 2025, if your proposal is selected.
