Members work together to support the implementation of Cooperative Extension’s National Framework for Health Equity and Well-Being (2021) to ensure that all people can be as healthy as they can be.

Invitation to Present - Youth Voice and Action Webinar

We all know of the powerful role that young people can play in leading community change. In my role as Health Director, I have learned about many programs across the country that help young people learn the skills they need to address local health issues. That’s why our Well Connected Communities initiative is sponsoring a webinar on September 28 at 11:00 AM Eastern that will showcase a number of these programs in a lightning round format.  Each presenter will have seven minutes and five slides to share their work and associated resources available for replicating it elsewhere.
I am writing to solicit applications and nominations to present during that webinar. Presentations should focus on work that positions young people as catalysts for improving the health of communities.
Work featured can showcase efforts by young people to address any dimension of community health including physical activity, food insecurity, environmental health, stress and anxiety, distracted driving, access to health resources, nutrition, vaccinations, and injury prevention.  In many states, this work is accomplished by 4-H health ambassadors and advocates. We are also interested in process guides or curricula for leading community change that can be used by young people for addressing any health issue.
To nominate a program, curriculum, or community-based effort, simply reply to me via email with the following information by September 8. Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged. A review team will select those who will be invited to present.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
