Worker Safety in Animal Production Systems

Worker Safety in Animal Production Systems

Watch the recording

When you think of safety on a livestock facility, we primarily think of injuries that can happen while working with animals and equipment. However, there’s more to worker safety than just bumps and bruises. This webinar will discuss on-farm injuries related to manure and mortality handling and application as well as potential toxic gas exposures and how to minimize risks of each. In addition, there will be a discussion on diseases that can be transferred from animals to humans (zoonotic), including prevention tactics for livestock and poultry operations of all sizes.

An application for continuing education credit for Certified Crop Advisors (CCAs) and members of the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists (ARPAS) will be submitted.

Presenters include:

  • Devon Charlier, Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health (UMASH) Center at University of Minnesota
  • Carol Peterson, Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health (UMASH) Center at University of Minnesota
  • Dr. Becky Larson, University of Wisconsin
  • Dr. Dee Ellis, Texas A&M University
  • Dr. Zong Liu (moderator), Texas A&M University

Handouts (PDF format) will be available the day of the webinar at the live webinar information page. Find out more about this webinar and future webinars by the Livestock and Poultry Environmental Learning Community (LPELC).
