West, Texas fertilizer facility explosion: Lessons learned in crisis communication

On April 17, an explosion at a fertilizer facility rocked the town of West, Texas. After the devastating explosion, The Fertilizer Institute (TFI), the national trade association representing the fertilizer industry, stepped in to respond to hundreds of national and regional media inquiries. For October’s “Easy as Pie” Webinar, Kathy Mathers, vice president of public affairs for TFI , and Laura Kubitz, manager of public affairs, will share their story of how they handled the crisis communication situation and lessons learned from the incident.
