In 2017, several of our esteemed colleagues, representing a diverse set of land grant universities, published a white paper entitled, “Telling the Extension Story but Telling It Well: The Value of Strategic Communications to Extension Leadership”. In that publication, they set out to make a case for the value of strategic communications to extension leadership at the 2010 Southern Region Program Leaders Network (SRPLN) Conference in Memphis, TN. Now, a decade later, can we report that progress has been made to follow the recommendations of their study and give communications experts a “seat at the decision-making table”? The speakers of this webinar will present a "mini case study" to share their perspective on the significant take-away message that emerged from the research and experiences of these seasoned leaders and managers. If you struggle to get cooperation and progressive dialogue from your extension and research administration, then this is a session you do not want to miss. On the contrary, if you have found success, then we need to hear from you as well. Your voices matter!

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
