USDA’s Agricultural Research Service to Host “Egg Handling, Safety, And Preparation Tips For The Holidays” Q&A on Facebook

WHAT: The United States Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) will host an egg-citing Facebook Premiere to inform and educate the public on egg safety.

WHO: USDA Egg Expert Deana Jones will discuss what to look for when buying eggs, how to properly store eggs, and how to handle raw eggs. She will also talk about the U.S. National Poultry Research Center’s current research and answer questions in the Facebook chat.

WHEN: Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 1:00 pm EST.

WHERE: The Official USDA-ARS Facebook Page

WHY: Eggs are good sources of protein and other important nutrients. Each year, the average American consumes over 200 eggs per year. Whether people like their eggs baked, fried, boiled, or poached, this superfood is a vital staple in diets. Eggs can also carry the Salmonella bacteria and can cause food poisoning if they are not stored, handled, and cooked properly. It is important to educate the public on egg safety especially as the holiday season approaches and people are preparing their favorite holiday dishes using eggs.

The Agricultural Research Service is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's chief scientific in-house research agency. Daily, ARS focuses on solutions to agricultural problems affecting America. Each dollar invested in agricultural research results in $20 of economic impact.
