The Changing World of Medicaid: Updates & Developments

The Changing World of Medicaid: Updates & Developments

About this Webinar:

The past two years have seen important developments in Medicaid programming across the United States. Expanded Medicaid eligibility and special provisions have been instrumental in our nation’s efforts to address the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency and its effects on individuals, families, and communities. Keeping up-to-date on Medicaid developments is important to those who provide support to military families and caregivers. In this webinar, Christopher Plein, Ph.D., will provide an overview of the Medicaid program, new program developments, and possibilities for the future.

Learning Objectives:

  • Provide a general overview of the Medicaid program and how it is relevant to military families and communities.
  • Provide updates on Medicaid expansion efforts in the various states that have resulted in more coverage for eligible individuals and families.
  • Review developments with Medicaid waiver programs that provide home and community-based services for those with disabilities and other care needs.
  • Explore how Medicaid is helping with the broader adoption of telehealth and telemedicine services in healthcare delivery.

Presenter:

Christopher Plein, Ph.D., Eberly Family Professor for Outstanding Public Service, West Virginia University

Dr. Plein is a Professor of Public Administration and Eberly Family Professor for Outstanding Public Service at West Virginia University. His academic research on health and social policy has been published in such journals as Health Affairs, the Journal of Health and Human Services Administration, and The Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Uninsured. FAQs for Learn Calendar Users:

Will a recording be available?

That is entirely up to the host of this webinar/online event. If this is an Extension Foundation hosted event - we will update this calendar listing with a link to the recording usually within 48 hours. Keep in mind, many of the offerings found here in Connect Extension are brought to you by your colleagues across the system. While we encourage them to update their listings with recordings, it is entirely up to them.

How do I know if it is an Extension-hosted event?

Extension Foundation posts publicly our events to two calendars - the Extension Foundation Member Calendar and the Opportunities for Cooperative Extension Calendar.  All other events coming from across Cooperative Extension are posted to the Learn Calendar or to one of the regional calendars. All calendars populate to the same main calendar on Connect Extension. To tell the difference between what events are posted to what calendars easily, you'll see the name of the calendar posted above the title of the event if you scroll to the top.

What if I have trouble accessing this webinar?

Please contact the author of this calendar event. The individual that posted this event will have their username automatically listed at the bottom of the body of their post, right above the social media buttons. When you hover over that name, you are able to send them a private message.
