About this Webinar
In an attempt to look at the association between childhood trauma and the risk for physical and mental illness in adulthood, Kaiser Permanente and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention established the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study which is one of the largest scientific research studies of its kind. This 90-minute webinar will provide participants with in-depth information on this study and its implications.
Presenter Information
Melissa Merrick, PhD, is a Behavioral Scientist with the Surveillance Branch in the Division of Violence Prevention (DVP) at the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Merrick serves as the Lead Scientist for the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study in DVP and is the Subject Matter Expert for Child Maltreatment. Dr. Merrick's research focuses primarily on the etiology, course, and prevention of child maltreatment.CEU and Certificate of Completion Information
1.5 CEUs are available through the University of Texas at Austin's School of Social Work. These educational hours may be submitted by professionals to meet continuing education requirements for renewal of Social Work, Professional Counselor, and Marriage and Family Therapist licenses. The University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work is an approved CE provider in all but the following 11 states: Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, and Oklahoma.
