Supporting Client Health Through Intuitive Eating

ABOUT THIS WEBINAR:

Intuitive Eating is a dynamic mind-body integration of instinct, emotion, and rational thought. It provides a self-care framework for eating that honors authentic health by improving the complex connections within our bodies to allow us to more accurately meet our body’s needs.

Intuitive Eating is not a novel concept but it differs from traditional approaches to health intervention as it does not center on weight or weight loss as a marker of health. The first Intuitive Eating book by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch was published in 1995. Since that time, the framework has gained popularity, especially within the last 5 years. There are now over 125 published studies documenting the health benefits of Intuitive Eating.

This webinar discusses the Intuitive Eating framework and illustrates how the 10 principles can be used to assist clients with their health goals while maintaining client autonomy, improving interoceptive awareness, and fostering a positive relationship with food, body, and movement.

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members.
