Substance Misuse as a Coping Mechanism

Join Jamey Lister, PhD, and Michael Chaple, PhD on Wednesday March 1st at 12:30pm as they discuss Substance Misuse as a Coping Mechanism. For many, including agricultural workers, alcohol and drugs provide a temporary relief from the challenges of everyday life, whereby these mind-altering substances are often used as a coping mechanism for stress, difficult emotions, and physical pain. This presentation will review the prevalence of substance use among agricultural workers, explore common risk factors, and introduce culturally appropriate strategies for substance use disorder prevention.
