Stuck on Fruits and Veggies: Putting Classroom Nutrition Lessons Into Practice

Teaching students about nutritious foods doesn't mean they're going to try those foods. Current research indicates that effective intervention strategies should involve multiple components for behavior change. School-based contests like the Fruit and Veggie Challenge reinforce lessons taught through traditional nutrition education, encourage students to eat more fruits and veggies and try new types of produce. This webinar, presented by Ginny Hinton, MPH, UF/IFAS Extension Santa Rosa County, FL, illustrates the simple, affordable, and interactive Fruit and Veggie Challenge that encourages fruit and vegetable consumption among children.

Learning Objectives:

1) Implement a fruit and vegetable challenge to reinforce classroom nutrition education

2) Identify resources for additional replicable fruit and vegetable challenges.
