SciStarter: a place for Citizen Science Projects

Interested in Citizen Science?  Then you need to know about SciStarter and how you can take advantage of it in your youth and adult programs.

SciStarter is a new organization working to bring together the millions of citizen scientists in the world; the thousands of potential projects offered by researchers, organizations, and companies; and the resources, products, and services that enable citizens to pursue and enjoy these activities. They aim to:
  • Enable and encourage people to learn about, participate in, and contribute to science through both informal recreational activities and formal research efforts.
  • Inspire greater appreciation and promote a better understanding of science and technology among the general public.
  • Create a shared space where scientists can talk with citizens interested in working on or learning about their research projects.
  • Satisfy the popular urge to tinker, build, and explore by making it simple and fun for peopleβ€”singles, parents, grandparents, kidsβ€”to jump in and get their hands dirty with science.
The webinar presenter is Darlene Cavalier, founder of SciStarter (http://scistarter.com/).

This webinar is sponsored by SciGirls, public television show, online educational programming and F2F science programming focused on middle-school-aged girls to change how girls think about science, technology, engineering and math!

Audio will be via conference call: 1-866-642-1665 and enter
participant access code: 596741.  The session will be archived.
