Responsive Feeding: Understanding when and how to develop a feeding relationship with infants.

What is responsive feeding? Does fussiness mean hunger? Responsive feeding is the practice of recognizing the infant's cues for hunger and fullness and responding appropriately.  Research has shown that responsive feeding can help maintain nutrition, proper growth and appetite regulation. Learn how to help your patients practice this method for healthier infant feeding.

Learning Objectives:

1.   Describe the four fundamental principles of responsive feeding.

2.   Recognize and describe the specific attributes and behaviors that constitute responsive feeding.

3.   Apply evidence-based knowledge of the benefits of responsive feeding to inform their practice with children and families.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs.
