Virtual Chat here on Connect Extension! A conversation with Dr. Dave Campbell.

May 8th, 2020 marks the 106th anniversary of the passage of Smith-Lever, which created the Cooperative Extension Service. In this special virtual chat featuring Dr. Dave Campbell, University of California Professor and Extension Specialist Emeritus, we explore the meaning of our work in communities and what this time of crisis calls us to.

@David Campbell a political scientist, is Community Studies Specialist Emeritus in the Department of Human Ecology at the University of California, Davis. He retired in July 2019 after serving 29 years with UC Cooperative Extension, the last five as an associate dean for social/human  sciences in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The goal of his research and extension work is to deepen the practice of democratic citizenship in California communities. Taking community planning and service delivery systems as the unit of analysis, his research illuminates the policy dynamics and collaborative mechanisms that shape local implementation of federal, state, and foundation programs. His policy work has focused on welfare-to-work programs, youth civic engagement, and community food systems. He previously served as the leader of the ANR Healthy Families and Communities Strategic Initiative and as Director of the California Communities Program.
