Utah State University Forestry Extension and Forest Health Protection (FHP), USDA Forest Service, Intermountain Region, is pleased to announce this webinar. The primary instructor for the session will be John Guyon, Plant Pathologist, Ogden Field Office, FHP. The purpose of the webinar is to help land managers and others interested in tree hazard assessment. This session and our new guide (A Guide to Identifying, Assessing, and Managing Hazard Trees in Developed Recreational Sites of the Northern Rocky Mountains and the Intermountain West) are both focused on hazard tree assessment in developed recreation areas, but the methods used could be adapted to evaluation of hazard trees in other settings.The objective of this webinar is to:
âĒ To familiarize attendees with the new hazard tree guide and rating system created by FHP for the intermountain states and the northern Rocky Mountains.
âĒ Recognize the importance of hazard tree identification and reduction.
âĒ Recognize common tree defects associated with tree hazards.
âĒ Understand various methods of mitigating hazard trees.
