Building Support for Biomass Thermal in the Northeast

Throughout the northeast, the use of biomass in residential, commercial and industrial heating has gained renewed attention in recent years.

Mr. Niebling will discuss the progress that has been made in advancing high efficiency biomass combustion technology to displace the region's historical dependence on imported and expensive fossil heating fuels, and as a new driver of economic development in farm and forest-based communities.
He will review current policy initiatives at the state, regional and federal level that will help support growth in this sector.
He will also discuss barriers in order for this sector to move beyond a niche energy and make a major contribution to the region's energy security.
