Agricultural Preparedness & the Agriculture Research Enterprise

Friday December 7, 2012, at 2:30 pm (EST), we hope you’ll tune in to the live webcast of an event at the White House’s Eisenhower Executive Office Building to see Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan and Dr. Catherine Woteki participate in the release of a report from the President’s Council of Advisors for Science and Technology (PCAST), “Agricultural Preparedness & the Agriculture Research Enterprise.” Dr. John Holdren, White House Director of Science and Technology Policy and co-chair of the Report committee, and Dr. Dan Schrag will present the report’s recommendations to the Administration about the need for a new “Innovation Ecosystem” as the future of agricultural research. Drs. Merrigan and Woteki will also make remarks.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
