Thriving Agricultural Systems in Urbanized Landscapes

The Thriving Agricultural Systems in Urbanized Landscapes, a five-year $9 million project, funded by the USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture, aims to transform agricultural systems on the fringes of metropolitan and non-metropolitan counties within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Over the next 25 years, we envision a future where these systems are both economically prosperous and environmentally sound. A diverse team of researchers from Penn State, the University of Maryland, Virginia Tech, George Washington, Ohio State, Utah State, and the Stroud Water Research Center is collaborating with stakeholders across the region. This multi-institutional partnership, encompassing 16 teams focused on research, education and outreach, and external evaluation, along with diverse stakeholder groups is co-creating knowledge to achieve the project's ambitious goals.
