National Urban Extension Leaders

Get engaged with NUEL! The National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL) began in 2013 as a grass-roots effort of a group of passionate and committed urban Extension educators with the mission to advocate and advance the strategic importance and long-term value of urban Extension activities by being relevant locally, responsive statewide, and recognized nationally.

Urban Food Systems Masters & Graduate Certificate Program

As of this fall, Kansas State University is excited to offer an Interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Urban Food Systems, as well as our professional track Masters of Science in  Horticulture with an emphasis in Urban Food Systems - both of which can be completed fully online or in-person at our Olathe & Manhattan, KS campuses. We have rolling admissions for domestic students and NO out of state tuition fees through our Olathe or Global campus. This is a great graduate program for food systems professionals, particularly Extension professionals working in urban & peri-urban settings. If you would like to receive more information about either of these program, please reach out to Semra Fetahovic at semra@ksu.edu

The bi-annual Urban Food Systems Symposium is coming up from June 11th - 13th in Columbus, Ohio. The Call for Abstracts is open until December 1st - if you have a topic you'd like to present on, please submit your abstract by the deadline. We'd love to see you at the event!

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
