National Urban Extension Leaders

Get engaged with NUEL! The National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL) began in 2013 as a grass-roots effort of a group of passionate and committed urban Extension educators with the mission to advocate and advance the strategic importance and long-term value of urban Extension activities by being relevant locally, responsive statewide, and recognized nationally.

Scholarships Available to North-Central Extension Professionals for NUEC '24

The North-Central Regional Caucus of the National Urban Extension Leaders is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships to urban-serving Extension Professionals within the North-Central Region to encourage attendance and participation at the 2024 National Urban Extension Conference in Nashville, TN, May 28-31.

Scholarships are funded through the NUEL North-Central Regional Conference Committee. We expect to award up to four (4) scholarships in the amount of $550 each.

Preference for Selection:

Scholarship applications will be selected for funding based on the following criteria:

  • Previous attendance at a NUEL North-Central Regional Conference
  • First-Time attendance at the National Urban Extension Conference
  • Financial support is a determining factor for attendance at the Conference

Application Process:

Address the preference selection criteria and outline the following in a pdf document and send to Marlin Bates at batesm@ksu.edu by Nov. 1, 2023.

  • Name, Title, University Affiliation and Unit Name
  • A paragraph outlining your interest and learning goals in attending the 2024 conference
  • A statement about previous National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL) participation
  • A statement about whether or not receipt of this scholarship will be a determining factor in attendance at the 2024 Conference
  • Plans for covering the balance of expenses for your attendance at the conference

Timeline:

The application deadline is November 1, 2023. Awardees will be notified by November 17, 2023.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
