National Urban Extension Leaders

Get engaged with NUEL! The National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL) began in 2013 as a grass-roots effort of a group of passionate and committed urban Extension educators with the mission to advocate and advance the strategic importance and long-term value of urban Extension activities by being relevant locally, responsive statewide, and recognized nationally.

Join a NUEL Action Team Today!

The National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL) is committed to raising national discussion about topics that matter to urban Extensionists and the communities we serve. NUEL's newest action team, Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI), will help elevate this dialogue and enhance our understanding of various topics and resource barriers within the cities we serve.

This action team will explore hot topics through a JEDI lens. Let's learn how we might effectively help community members navigate issues on policing, education, infrastructure, environment, and much more.

Together we will work to:

  • Improve engagement with gatekeepers/key informants in cities.
  • Increase community partnerships.
  • Enhance capacity to address inequities and accessibility in urban communities.

Ready to join? Please email Durriyyah Kemp (kemp@illinois.edu) and Nicole Debose (debose.8@osu.edu) to let us know you're in! Our first action team meeting is on September 21 at 1:00 pm EDT/12:00 pm CDT.

The Professional Development Action Team is also accepting new members. Are you interested in joining? Please contact Brenda Gay Rogers at bgrogers@ufl.edu for more information.

It seems that the National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL) is offering two action teams for professionals to join. The Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) team will focus on exploring topics related to urban Extensionists and the communities they serve through a JEDI lens. They aim to enhance community partnerships, engage with key informants in cities, and address inequities and accessibility in urban communities. The Professional Development Action Team aims to provide professional development opportunities for Extension professionals.
