National Urban Extension Leaders

Get engaged with NUEL! Invitation to participate in a survey about urban farmland tenure:

Good morning and Happy New Year!

If you work with urban farmers, would you consider taking a survey about urban farmland tenure? Would you consider sharing the following survey recruitment information with any urban farmers or urban agriculture service providers you work with? Or in your newsletter?

Our goal is to develop educational material about how different jurisdictions have successfully preserved urban farmland or buildings and made them accessible to growers.

Invitation to participate in a survey about urban farmland tenure:

Are you an urban farmer? Do you work with urban farmers? Please share your experiences with urban farmland or property tenure through this survey: https://ume.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_aaOJ0b8oCh4SiJU

The University of Maryland Extension (UME) and The University of Maryland Agriculture Law Education Initiative seek survey responses from farmers who produce in urban and urbanized areas and agricultural service providers who provide services to farmers who produce in urban and urbanized areas to assess opportunities and barriers when implementing urban agriculture and accessing urban farmland tenure or property for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA).

Surveys are confidential  and will not collect any identifiable information. All survey participants must be18 years of age.  The survey will take 15 minutes for farmers and 5 minutes for service providers to complete.

This research is being conducted by Andrea Franchini from the University of Maryland, College Park Extension, Margaret Todd from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and Rachele Franceschi from the University of Maryland College Park. Interview. This project will result in the publication of example policies and case studies from Maryland and  across the U.S. to educate local governments on their options for supporting farmland tenure in urban and urbanized areas.
