National Urban Extension Leaders

Get engaged with NUEL! The National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL) began in 2013 as a grass-roots effort of a group of passionate and committed urban Extension educators with the mission to advocate and advance the strategic importance and long-term value of urban Extension activities by being relevant locally, responsive statewide, and recognized nationally.

Anyone is eligible to apply. However, only individuals from member institutions are eligible for funding. Current institutional members can be found here: https://metroextension.wsu.edu/platinum-members/.

If your institution is not on the list, it is not too late to join! Membership is at the institution level and your institution can be a member based on intent to join (i.e. we’re good with β€˜the check is in the mail’). Benefits of membership can be found  here: https://metroextension.wsu.edu/wcmer-member-benefits/.

If you have questions about the Fellowships or becoming a member, please contact Brad Gaolach at gaolach@wsu.edu or 425-405-1734

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
