Virtual State Fair and University Expo

15 land-grant universities using immersive 3-D environments for teaching and outreach will showcase their work at the "University Expo" during this week's 4th annual
Virtual State Fair in Second Lifeยฎ. Daily 12 noon to 9:00pm EDT, university faculty will share information about learning environments including topics such as Aquaculture, Financial Management, Human Anatomy, and Assistive Technology. Tours will be available. The fair also offers rides and games, live music, virtual geocaching, and educational displays. The event, free of charge and open to the public, also serves as a professional development opportunity for those in Extension curious about educational use of virtual worlds. About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
