Pinning with a Purpose

How would you like the potential of reaching 70 million people with your Extension message…from your computer? The answer: Begin to Pin!

Henneman will present on how to Pin more effectively, focusing on strategies related to image sizes and types, Pin categories and descriptions, board covers and board placement, sharing boards, using hashtags to track pins, and scheduling Pins in advance. Henneman will also share how to add “Follow” or “Pin It” buttons and Pinterest widgets to a website or blog.

Did you know ... people are starting to use Pinterest as a search engine and the number of men on Pinterest is growing?

"We doubled our male user base in the U.S. this year," Pinterest says. "Last year our male user base in the U.S. grew 73% year over year, and has been picking up in the past 6 months (54%) vs. the prior 6 months (40%), which is outpacing overall Pinterest growth."

Ag, the environment, and lawn/garden, are just some of the things beyond food & family that Extension is pinning.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
