Implications of Manure Additives: Both Purposeful and Accidental

Watch the Recording!

When applying manure, we often think only of the nutrients that we’re applying. However, manure additives whether purposeful or accidental can affect soils and subsequent crops. In this webinar, we’ll discuss purposeful additives like nitrification inhibitors and biochar as well as accidental additives like copper sulfate from disinfecting foot baths and how these things can and should impact our decisions when applying manure.

An application for continuing education credit for Certified Crop Advisors (CCAs) and members of the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists (ARPAS) will be submitted.

Presenters include:

  • Melissa Wilson, University of Minnesota
  • Joe Stanford, University of Wisconsin-Platteville
  • Aerica Bjurstrom, University of Wisconsin-Madison
  • Robb Meinen (moderator), Penn State University

Handouts (PDF format) will be available the day of the webinar at the live webinar information page. Find out more about this webinar and future webinars by the Livestock and Poultry Environmental Learning Community (LPELC).
