The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Army Corps) released a proposed rule in March to clarify protection under the Clean Water Act for streams and wetlands that form the foundation of the nation’s water resources. In this webcast, Donna Downing of EPA’s Office of Wetlands, Oceans and Watersheds, and Ken Kopocis, senior advisor in the EPA’s Office of Water, will explain the proposed rule and discuss what the proposal would mean to the agriculture sector. The proposed definitions of waters do not protect any new types of waters that have not historically been covered under the Clean Water Act and are consistent with the Supreme Court’s reading of Clean Water Act jurisdiction.
