Data Knows Best: What Research Says About Your Client's Retirement Planning

This webinar is the first session in the 3-day Personal Finance Virtual Learning Event focused on retirement issues. Learn more about the event and the other sessions here.

During this webinar, we'll discuss the importance of research in understanding how to navigate personal finance decisions and understanding financial behavior. Kim Blanton will provide the big picture in terms of how Americans’ retirement preparation is changing. She’ll discuss what the research says about the crucial elements of retirement planning, the pitfalls of focusing too much on investments, the public’s misconceptions about Social Security, and touchstones for retirement planning such as medical spending and replacement rates.

Speaker

Kimberly Blanton developed and writes Squared Away, a personal finance and retirement blog at Boston College, and is a former financial and economics reporter who wrote for The Boston Globe, The Economist, and other publications. Kim earned a B.A. and M.A. in economics from the University of Indiana Bloomington and her fellowship in journalism from the University of Maryland.
