Companion Animal Webinar: Cats 101

Cats are now the most popular companion animal in U.S. households. Join us for tips about cat behavior that will lead to a better understanding of. and relationship with, our feline friends. We will discuss how cats communicate, and will focus on common behaviors that lead to conflict-namely, destructive scratching and litterbox issues.

Amy Fischer is a Teaching Associate and Extension Specialist with the University of Illinois Department of Animal Sciences, where she coordinates the Companion Animal Biology and Humane Education program. This program emphasizes the science of companion animals as well as their roles in society, and encourages students to apply knowledge through a variety of internships, service-based learning projects, and other opportunities based on community partnerships. Fischer serves on the Boards of Directors of the Champaign County Humane Society and the Alliance for Contraception in Cats & Dogs. She has volunteered with numerous domestic and international cat and dog population control campaigns, and is deeply committed to advancing the application of nonsurgical sterilization methods in humane population control. Fisher attended the University of Wisconsin, where she received her Ph.D. in Animal Science in 2004.
