Welcome to the next event in the FAS Spotlight webinar series: Spotlight on Mozambique. This event will consist of a briefing by Laura Geller, FAS Senior Agricultural Attaché - Southern Africa and Almeida Zacarias, FAS Agricultural Specialist, Maputo, Mozambique as well as esteemed colleagues from U.S. Department of State and the Department of Commerce, all based in Maputo, on the cultural, economic, political and trade policy environments in Mozambique as well as the array of USDA/FAS food assistance programming in the country.

Cashew processing and trade - overview of sector and impact of trade restrictions on processors.
Food for Progress Activities
- Cashews: Enhancing the value chain by supporting the cashew nut industry and addressing challenges within the value chain in the areas of production, utilization of inputs, finance, and marketing.
- Bananas: Combating fusarium wilt (Panama disease) and banana bunchy top virus (BBTV) through a grant facility program that aims to strengthen the industry so that it can contain and control the spread of diseases.
- Dairy: Enhancing the value chain by developing a more competitive dairy sector through training, expanding access to finance, inputs, agri-processors, and retailers.
McGovern-Dole School Feeding - USDA has two active programs, one in Nampula province and one in Maputo province.
