Agriculture in urban communities accounts for 15-20% of world food production (Corbould 2013). This sizable contribution is not often considered when planning for future population growth and could provide an even greater source of locally grown foods. Yet, greater than 54% of the worldβs population lives in cities.
As part of a New Technologies in Agricultural Extension (NTAE) grant-funded project, the objective of this chat is to help identify whatβs happening across the Cooperative Extension System nationwide in relation to urban food production and food systems education in urban and peri-urban communities.
The data gathered here will be utilized in the production of a literature review expounding on our findings.
