Equine Research Discussion During COVID-19

Join the Zoom Meeting Here

The Equine Science Society (ESS) will be facilitating a discussion on challenges equine researchers are facing due to COVID-19. We hope that you will join us for a Zoom discussion on Thursday, April 16, at 11:00 AM (Eastern time). To join the Zoom, click here or open Zoom and enter the meeting ID 648 408 296. Shannon Pratt-Phillips, ESS Secretary/Treasurer will be facilitating the discussion.

To help facilitate our discussion, please complete this short survey by Wednesday, April 15 at 5:00 pm. The survey is reflective of common issues currently facing equine researchers, including:

  • tips/requirements for conducting research while social distancing,
  • impacts on research funding and animal unit budgets,
  • impacts to graduate students and laboratories,
  • effects on tenure clocks and salaries,
  • determining essential animal unit and laboratory staff,
  • potential changes to IACUC procedures,
  • and plans for "restarting" research when possible.

We are looking forward to this discussion and hope you can join us. Please forward to other equine researchers at your institution and expect an official e-mail from ESS (to members) on Monday. Researchers do not need to be ESS members to join.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
