Think Inside the Box: Containerized Meat Processing Solutions

Building a meat processing plant is not easy nor inexpensive. What if there were models that were quicker to build, faster to get online, and required less capital, particularly for smaller-scale producers? In this webinar we will hear about two such shipping container meat plant models, one for red meat and the other for poultry. Dr. Michele Pfannestiel will discuss her Locker model and David Schafer will share his Plant in the Box unit. Hear about the design, equipment, site requirements, costs, and economics. Please register ahead of time by going to this link below and filling out the short form. You will then be sent the information to connect to the webinar via the Zoom platform.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
