Paying for College: The Forever GI Bill and Repayment Plans

This is a free webinar hosted by the Personal Finance concentration area of the Military Families Learning Network.

This 90-minute webinar will cover the Forever GI Bill or the Colmery Act with speakers from the Veteran's Benefits Administration Office. Dr. Carrie Johnson will take a look at repayment options, including deferment and forbearance options for active military service members.


Speakers
Dr. Carrie Johnson, Extension Personal and Family Finance Specialist, Assistant Professor at North Dakota State University. Carrie has worked in Extension Education since 2009, prior to that she was a financial aid counselor. She received her Bachelor's Degree (English for Information Systems) from Dakota State University, Master's Degree (Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis in Family Financial Planning) from South Dakota State University, and Ph.D. (Family and Consumer Science Education) from Iowa State University. Carrie is also an Accredited Financial Counselor. Research Interests: Personal finance for low-income and underserved populations; Financial education impact; Student loan debt; Program delivery methods and evaluation; Behavioral finance across the lifespan.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members.
