ISU Virtual Conference Keynote

Continuous Beta and a Healthy Dose of Paranoia

Because of technical difficulties during the Extension and Outreach Annual Conference, we were unable to hear from keynote speaker Anne Adrian during the live broadcast. However, Anne is presenting live, via Adobe Connect, on Tuesday, June 25, 3 p.m. Eastern Time, at https://connect.extension.iastate.edu/annualconference2013/ .

In her presentation, Anne discusses changes in our environment, some of which are shaped by technology and media advances. She also describes some skills and abilities needed for extension professionals and Extension and Outreach as an organization to have success in this ever-changing environment. She emphasizes the need to connect to diverse communities, develop higher-level sense-making skills, share openly, and become more agile in our work.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.

This technology is supported in part by New Technologies for Ag Extension (funding opportunity no.
