Getting started with farm food safety

This program is part of a 20-webinar Michigan State University Extension 2015 Beginning Farmer Webinar Series.

Getting started with  food safety on your farm

Phil Tocco, MSU Extension

             Monday, February 23, 2015, 7-9pm

Food safety begins on the farm, from the minute a fruit or vegetable is picked right on up until it is consumed.  Every little decision you make from harvest on will either ensure a safe product or reduce its safety for the consumer. This talk will introduce another way of looking at the things you do from the perspective of food safety.  We will also provide some inexpensive, practical changes that can improve your food safety and tighten up your production without a lot of cost.

About the Extension Foundation

The Extension Foundation was formed in 2006 by Extension Directors and Administrators. Today, the Foundation partners with Cooperative Extension through liaison roles and a formal plan of work with the Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) to increase system capacity while providing programmatic services, and helping Extension programs scale and investigate new methods and models for implementing programs. The Foundation provides professional development to Cooperative Extension professionals and offers exclusive services to its members. In 2020 and 2021, the Extension Foundation has awarded 85% of its direct funding back to the Cooperative Extension System, 100% of funds are used to support Cooperative Extension initiatives.
